Land Rover Series & Defender Classic Parts: Where to Find What the Dealerships Can't

The Land Rover Series and Defender parts situation is complicated. Drivetrain parts remain available from the aftermarket. But the extraordinary range of variants — Series I through III, Defender 90, 110, 130 — means interior trim and body-specific parts are fragmented and increasingly hard to navigate.

Series Land Rovers: The Pre-1983 Cars

For Series I, II, IIA, and III, mechanical parts are well covered by the aftermarket. Interior trim is different. The Series IIA's bulkhead switch panel bezel cracks consistently — a high-visibility item available from only a small number of specialists. Dashboard bezels and instrument surround trims for Series I and early Series II are not available from Land Rover.

The Defender: 1983–2016

Parts for early Defenders (pre-1990) are increasingly unavailable through official channels. Original Defender seat cover materials are no longer available in original specification. Dashboard top covers on pre-1994 Defenders develop cracks, and correct replacements must match the original surface texture — modern alternatives are immediately distinguishable.
